Our gardens are so beautiful this week. I’ve enjoyed the many pictures friends have sent.
And a poem I wrote some years ago
Love of Gardens
Shaded by the wall tight fisted ferns
unfurl and frame a labyrinth of ways.
The hunted rabbit stops then quickly turns
for safety to this dark and sheltered maze.
Day lilies strut bright colors in the sun.
The hostas spread their variegated leaves.
The last performer is but barely done
Before the next proud diva bows, receives
An accolade of joy from we who praise
the hold of roots, the joyous burst of seed
flung high into the heat of summer days.
You doubters of the love we give, pay heed.
The mysteries of Spring are from the earth
Deep wisdom lies in honoring each birth.
